Headliners

Pulled Apart By Horses

Pulled Apart By Horses appearing at this event

Riotous Leeds four-piece whose punk/metal crossover pays more than a slight homage to the sounds of Seattle. Their speed-fuelled thunderous guitars and high-octane vocals draw comparisons to a crazier Queens Of The Stone Age, an artier At The Drive-In or a shoutier Shellac. With crazy song titles 'I Punched A Lion In The Throat', 'I've Got Guestlist To Rory O'Hara's Suicide' and 'Back To The F**k Yeah', the Leeds noisesmiths have a mischievous sense of humour beneath their screeching hardcore jams.

The Libertines

The Libertines appearing at this event

In the early Noughties, you could not escape the sight or sounds of these infectious modern-day punks. Whether dancing at Indie clubs, reading the NME or tuning into Radio 1, The Libertines were everywhere. Top 20 hits like 'Time For Heroes' and 'Can't Stand Me Now' were on heavy rotation and they gained a somewhat obsessive fan base. But after just two short 'n' sweet albums (2002's 'Up The Bracket' and 2004's eponymous 'The Libertines', both produced by The Clash's Mick Jones) it was all over. So what became of the likely lads? Personal problems and battling demons saw Peter Doherty and Carl Barat split up and go their seperate ways with various solo projects and forming new bands. But time is a great healer and they patched up their differences to reform in 2010.

Mumford & Sons

Mumford & Sons appearing at this event

One of the most successful acts to come out of the first decade of the 21st century's English folk revival, London's Mumford & Sons' agreeable fusion of bluegrass, folk, country, and rock has found favour with audiences all around the world. Formed in 2007 by singer / guitarist / drummer Marcus Mumford, vocalist and banjo / Dobro player Winston Marshall, vocalist / keyboardist Ben Lovett, and vocalist / bassist Ted Dwane, the quartet bonded over their shared love of roots music - their moniker is meant to invoke the impression of an antiquated family business name. At that time the West London folk scene was becoming increasingly vibrant with the arrival of fellow new traditionalists like Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale and Johnny Flynn but Mumford & Sons have gone on to outsell and outshine them all with their success!

Frank Turner

Frank Turner appearing at this event

Former singer for hardcore outfit Million Dead turned folk troubadour, Frank Turner has seen his fame flourish through, essentially, the old fashioned route - hard work, continuous gigging and word of mouth. His singer-songwriter solo career steadily grew from cult status to an arena filler, eventually playing London's O2 and Wembley Stadium. It has been an eventful decade for the troubadour from Winchester who now resides in Holloway, North London. Turner released his debut album, “Sleep is For The Week”, in 2007 and has been on a stunning upward curve ever since. He is now one of the country’s most cherished songwriters, a man who plays the biggest venues in the land and whose records reach the higher echelons of the charts but who has never lost sight of his original MO: write, record, tour, repeat. His blend of folk-punk-rock and powerful lyrics has seen him continue playing to an already devoted fanbase, but he picks up new fans with every festival appearance and tour.

The Wombats

The Wombats appearing at this event

Ever since Murph, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen and drummer Dan Haggis – who met and formed The Wombats at the Liverpool Institute Of Performing Arts in 2003 - emerged in 2006 and swiftly became chart-quashing champions of the noughties guitar pop explosion with hits including ‘Moving To New York’, ‘Kill The Director’ and ‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division’, they’ve barely looked back. The euphoric tales of romantic misadventures in cinemas, forests, weddings and rock clubs that filled their platinum-selling 2007 debut album ‘A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation’ garnered them a strong and dedicated fanbase in thrall to Murph’s amalgam of irrepressible hooks and downbeat tragi-comic lyricism and with such bare-hearted emotional depth to their ditties, The Wombats resolutely refuse to be a flash in the pan.

Georgia

Georgia appearing at this event

Born and raised in north-west London, Georgia is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter. Her eponymous debut album was released in August 2015; written, performed, produced and recorded by Georgia in its entirety at her home-studio; it presented a very necessary new talent, one with real spirit and one that is unabashedly herself. Georgia’s music is fascinating and sharply paced, packed with injections of lightness and fun, pared with rich, bubbling melodies that makes listening to it an experience that takes you into the party, through electro-pop into R&B, and back again. Feminine without being saccharine, her deep, brooding reflections carry us through euphoria, heartache and melancholy but always with the memory of the good times.

"One listen and you're sucked into a world of dirty melodies, infectious harmony hooks, glistening choral swells and reference points including US lo-fi pop and Fleetwood Mac. The latter of which is rather apt, given two of the band, Mike and Evelyn are married" - Liverpool Echo.
