My Chemical Romance
The New Jersey pop-punk band quickly rose to fame in the early '00s after supporting the likes of Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Avenged Sevenfold and The Used on tour. Their brand of 'violent, dangerous pop', with an image to match and plenty of media hype, won them a fanatical fan following on both sides of the pond. MCR released four studio albums over the course of their career, debuting in 2002 with 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love'. Their second album, 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge', followed in 2004, and 'The Black Parade' was released in 2006. Their fourth, and final studio album 'Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys', was released in 2010. The band decided to split in March 2013, posting a statement on their official website. In November 2019 they announced they were reuniting for a show in Los Angeles and in January 2020 announced their first UK comeback show in Milton Keynes.

The group’s subsequent four LPs (Room On Fire, First Impressions Of Earth, Angles, Comedown Machine) and headline shows across the globe has seen their profile continue to rise – also buoyed by their respective individual projects and collaborations – with lead singer Julian Casablancas even linking up with French electronic pioneers Daft Punk on their UK #1 album, Random Access Memories.

From their initial somewhat shambolic goth-garage-punk beginnings, covering Screaming Lord Sutch's 'Jack The Ripper' and having an admiration for The Sonics, Faris Badwan and friends have matured considerably over the course of their career, becoming a respected name and stadium-level stars. Their dark gothic sounds now lean more towards Nick Cave and Joy Division than their original garage-rock roots. The not-so-difficult second album 'Primary Colours' was awarded NME's best album of 2009 and received a Mercury Prize nomination, while 2011's 'Skying' and 2014's 'Luminous' both met with great critical acclaim, entering the UK Official Album Chart at numbers 5 and 6 respectively, while 2017 saw the release of 'V', their 5th album.
