From their initial somewhat shambolic goth-garage-punk beginnings, covering Screaming Lord Sutch's 'Jack The Ripper' and having an admiration for The Sonics, Faris Badwan and friends have matured considerably over the course of their career, becoming a respected name and stadium-level stars. Their dark gothic sounds now lean more towards Nick Cave and Joy Division than their original garage-rock roots.

The not-so-difficult second album 'Primary Colours' was awarded NME's best album of 2009 and received a Mercury Prize nomination, while 2011's 'Skying' and 2014's 'Luminous' both met with great critical acclaim, entering the UK Official Album Chart at numbers 5 and 6 respectively, while 2017 saw the release of 'V', their 5th album.
