Barrel Of Laughs: Dave Johns, Phil Ellis, Steve Royle, Mick Ferry
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Highly-acclaimed Geordie stand-up comedian with numerous TV and radio credits to his name. An expert in the delivery of in-yer-face comedy, Dave's high-energy routine has left audiences around the globe gasping for breath and crying with laughter.
In 1989 Johns’ launched the Comedy Café on Westgate Road and invited the emerging Jack Dee and Jo Brand to appear, but realising they needed an MC stepped-up and did it himself. Finding he was rather good at it and pricing tickets at £3.75 including soup and a bun, the club became a city hot spot and Dave went on to host many more comedy stars including Eddie Izzard, Steve Coogan, Harry Hill and nervous 14 year old lad called Ross Noble who went on to do rather well for himself.
Johns became a successful comedian, touring throughout the UK, a regular with the Comedy Store Players and appearing on much loved TV shows like Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 Out of Ten Cats.
'He performs comedy's greatest magic, simply by being himself. A genuinely funny, engaging performer' (Glasgow Herald)
'He shifts from the sublime, to genius, to uproar in the blink of an eye - an extremely entertaining hour' (The Guardian).

Phil Ellis is a comedian and writer known for his chaotic stand-up and live performances. Phil broke onto the comedy scene with his widely acclaimed Funz and Gamez, which won the Panel Prize at the 2014 Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards. He is making his way in TV with The Tapeface Tapes (BBC3) and Phil’s Ill: Comedy Shorts (Dave).
'Ellis sets such a cracking pace. He flits around the audience with his frisky, easy banter spreading a feeling of good humoured fun' (Chortle)
'... delighting both children and (on a rather different level) adults alike' (The Daily Telegraph)
'I cannot imagine the being that would not be blown away by this ridiculously funny, shambolic gigglefest of a show' (The Scotsman)
'Wildly inappropriate... chaotic, gloriously silly' (Time Out).

Steve is an actor, writer, comedian, juggler, and a regular presenter on BBC Radio Lancashire. He is a regular headline act at The Comedy Store and other alternative venues and has performed alongside Steve Coogan and Peter Kay.
Steve was the first person ever to perform an audience warm-up for the Royal Variety Show and was the winner of the Best Comedy Show at the Brighton Fringe Festival 2005 (as part of Slaughterhouse Live). He has also taken to the high seas to add mirth to the lives of seafaring holiday makers.
'Amusing his audiences with his high energy and distinctive talents, there's something for everyone' (Funhouse Comedy).
Steve Royle tour dates
Popular circuit comedian and regular compere for several comedy nights. He is probably best known for his Comedy Store improvisations, but after starting his professional career as a support act for Peter Kay he was soon selling out his own one-man shows, and things look like they are only going to get better for Derker's most famous son.
On TV Mick has starred in BBC1`s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow as well as Comedy Blue and The Comedy Store (both Comedy Central). He made his big screen debut in 2009 in Ken Loach’s Looking For Eric – a hit feature film at the Cannes film festival where it was nominated for the prestigious Palm D’Or. A prolific comic, he is a writer on John Bishop’s Britain (BBC1) and has helped make the show a ratings success.
'See him or regret it' (John Bishop)
'Absolute legend, incredibly funny' (Jason Manford)
'Performs with style and conviction... highly enjoyable' (Chortle).
