Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park: Tim Minchin, Milton Jones, Nina Conti, Alan Davies, Gina Yashere, Jasper Carrott
Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2013's acclaimed midweek comedy club breaks out onto the Main Stage for 2014!
London’s Hyde Park will be welcoming the uber-talented Australian comedian Tim Minchin at Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park on Thursday 10th July, with tickets strictly limited to 4,000.
Minchin takes to the 'Great Oak Stage' following his headlining stint as Judas Iscariot in the sell out arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar and off the back of the huge Broadway and West End success of his multi award winning musical Matilda - which scooped a record breaking 7 Olivier Awards. Going back to his day job of stand up musical comedy, this will be his first time performing in the historic Royal Park.
Tim will be performing on the main stage, so bring along your picnic blankets and chairs and claim your spot on the grass in London’s Hyde Park. If you’d rather though, there will also be unreserved seating in the Grandstand area for an evening of the best outdoor comedy entertainment offered anywhere in London.
Joining Tim will be the cream of UK comedy talent: Milton Jones, Nina Conti, Alan Davies and Gina Yashere as support, plus Special Guest Host - the legendary Jasper Carrott!
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Tim Minchin is an Australian musician, composer, songwriter, actor, comedian and writer. He has been performing his unique brand of musical comedy in front of appropriately excitable and ever-growing audiences since starting out in South Melbourne’s Butterfly Club in 2005. His songs span various musical styles and topics such as environmentalism, rationalism, prejudice(ism), logical fallacies(ism) and his amour de fromage et boobs. He plays the piano, wears skinny jeans and sports wildly teased hair. He worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), to write the music and lyrics for Matilda The Musical.
“If you’re going to play big spaces, this is the way to do it; with a 55-piece orchestra and a juggernaut full of showmanship, making this a big show in every sense…a superlative night out.” (Chortle)

A career that has spanned five decades first started when Jasper became resident compére at the Boggery Folk Club in Birmingham in the mid-'70s. There he discovered his talent for comedy, and his inability to sing; the rest, as they say, is history.
Apart from his stand-up comedy and TV shows such as 'Carrot's Commercial Breakdown', this award-winning Brummie comedian is probably best known for his spoof police drama with Robert Powell, 'The Detectives', and his undying passion for Birmingham City FC.
