Summer 2017 Grandslam Tour: UB40 Featuring Ali Astro and Mickey, Level 42, The Original Wailers, Raging Fyah
UB40 are delighted to announce their UK Grandslam Tour for summer 2017. The band - featuring original members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue - will be bringing their inimitable blend of reggae and pop greatest hits to the forefront of the British summer events calendar, and will be joined by special guests Level 42, The Original Wailers and Raging Fyah, also performing a host of their greatest hits.
UB40 are Britain's greatest reggae artists and have survived more than 30 years in the music business and have clocked up more than 40 million record sales worldwide with songs like Kingston Town and Red, Red Wine.
The summer of 1978 saw the eight members of the Birmingham band, soon to become UB40, drawn together by their love of Jamaican reggae. Taking their name from a notorious British unemployment form, the band played their first local gig in Birmingham in 1979, and spent the rest of the year performing at pubs and clubs around the UK. British radio legend John Peel was so impressed with the group's first demo tape that he invited them to perform on his Radio One show in 1980. At the same time, the band were also asked to support The Pretenders on their triumphant national tour. They released a Top 5 single in the UK in February 1980 and, in 1981, released a brace of albums, 'Present Arms' and 'Present Arms In Dub'. Their breakthrough came with the hit single, 'Red, Red Wine'. The song topped the British singles charts in 1983 and, after renewed promotion following the 1988 Nelson Mandela Concert at Wembley, the single reached the number 1 spot in the US.
The band's initial line up lasted for 30 years from the band's formation in 1978 until front-man Ali Campbell's departure from the band in 2008. Since that time, two other founding members (Mickey Virtue and Astro) have also left the band, and the trio of Campbell, Virtue, and Astro have since formed UB40 Reunited.
These three founding members are now embarking on a huge world tour, which the fans have been crying out for, playing all the hits and new tracks from the forthcoming album, which will be released later in 2014.

To date, Level 42 have released 14 studio albums, 7 live albums, and 6 compilation albums, had 18 top 40 singles, including Lessons in Love, Something About You, Leaving Me Now, Running in the Family, and Hot Water, sold out Wembley Arena for a total of 21 nights and sold in excess of 30 million albums worldwide. In short they proved to be one of the biggest British bands of the 1980s, and recent reissues as a major format has seen a host of re-masters and releases from Universal Music, Studio Hamburg, and River Records among others.
In 2001 Mark King acquired the rights to the name ‘Level 42’ and took the band back out on the road again where they continue to win over audiences where their unique sound and virtuosity as instrumentalists remains an inspiration to young players the world over.

In 1974 when Bob Marley went solo, on the brink of international stardom, he surprised the music community by choosing as his lead guitarist the soft spoken, American-born Al Anderson. It was Anderson’s stunning lead work on such classics as No Woman, No Cry, Dem Belly Full and Curfew (Three O’ Clock Road Block) that first alerted rock fans to the Wailers’ music.
Over a billion dollars worth of Marley’s music featuring Al Anderson’s evocative guitar work has been sold worldwide. Al has also played with the Peter Tosh, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, Steel Pulse, Aswad, Inner Circle, Traffic and Ben Harper.
Al Anderson is the sole member of the Wailers mid-1970s line-up in The Original Wailers. The reformed configuration includes Chet Samuel (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Omar Lopez (Bass Guitar), carrying forward the true spirit and realities of the original music and the message of “One Love”.

Raging Fyah is one of the most talented and dynamic groups ever to hit the Jamaican music scene. Divinely united in 2006, five stunning musicians- Anthony Watson, Kumar Bent, Courtland White, Demar Gayle and Delroy Hamilton – set out to rekindle a flame of positivity in the music industry.
Though their versatility enables them to play all genres of music, most of their songs - influenced by passion, purpose and life experiences- assume a roots rock reggae flavour.
