R.A. The Rugged Man

R.A. The Rugged Man appearing at this event

Few artists are ever as controversial as they are influential. New York legend R.A. the Rugged Man has lived up to such a moniker by simultaneously inspiring generations of rappers while being banned from every major record label’s offices and even barred from performing during the late-90s underground explosion. But by combining the authenticity of his undeniably rugged life with his undisputed mic skills and understanding of the genre as a Hip-Hop historian, his music has both survived and thrived off the strength of bootlegs and word of mouth through high profile collaborations and high quality official releases, setting a standard for “Real MCs” that few have ever attempted to match.

Dirty Dike

Dirty Dike appearing at this event

Dirty Dike is an all-talking, all-breathing, fully-functioning rap FIEND. Catch him on a peaceful one and he will most likely be sucking on king prawns in the moonlight and throwing their discarded pink tails to Cretian street hounds. Catch him on a mental one and he will be seventeen quaddy voddys deep slurring freestyles in a pair of rusty Pelle Pelle boxers and an odd pair of his girlfriends socks to Cambridge University students… It really is all or nothing when it comes to the one they call Mr Dikestar; he never has been one for half measures in either his booze drink selection or music making. In an age where everyone thinks they can rap, Dike’s dedication to this thing called hip hop is as driven and focussed as you will ever see from anyone daring to call themselves a lyricist.

This Children of The Damned spin off group, A Cult of The Damned, includes some of the original members and new school Blah signees. Any old-school UK hip-hop head will tell you why people are making their excitement heard following the announcement of the upcoming four track Cult Of The Damned EP – they'll probably tell you that if it goes in nearly as hard as COTD used to do, the record could easily be amongst the most heated UK hip-hop projects of 2015.

Fliptrix has spent the last few years of his life defining his position as one of the most forward-thinking emcees in the game. Running on nothing but positive vibes and a firm belief in the music, everything he has put his mind to has come good in one way or another; launching High Focus Records, establishing his own successful studio and High Focus HQ, clocking over a million hits (and counting) on his HFTV YouTube channel, releasing a string of seminal albums and selling out venues.
