In 2005, Snow Patrol’s third album Final Straw won the Ivor Novello Album Award. The album was also listed in NME’s 2006 list of 100 Best Albums of All Time.
The band released their hit album Eyes Open in 2006 which became the biggest-selling album in the UK that year and included the iconic track Chasing Cars. In 2009, Channel 4 named it the Song of the Decade and in 2011 it won the Q Award for Classic Song.

The Belfast alt-rockers led by Gary Lightbody dominated the UK indie rock scene in the 00s ever since their breakthrough success with the 2003 no.3 album 'Final Straw', which contained the anthemic hit single 'Run'. Further UK top 3 albums followed including 2018's long-awaited return with 'Wildness'. Despite a 7-year hiatus, the boys had not been forgotten, and scored a UK no.2 album (and no.1 in their native Ireland).
