Made In The Great War - A Yorkshireman's Tale In Music And Words
Sam Sweeney, fiddle player with Bellowhead, has created an extraordinary performance, for which he won a BBC award, comprising music, theatre, spoken word and film to tell the true story of a Yorkshire musician and soldier.
Sam recently bought a violin made in 1915 by Richard Howard, shortly before he was conscripted to fight in WWI. Made in the Great War tells the deeply moving story of Richard, the last instrument he ever made and how, like so many others, his life was overtaken by World War I.
