Sooty Ungloved - Talk & Screening

This event has been postponed

In 2020 Sooty celebrates his 72nd birthday, but his journey has not always been easy and behind the PR spin the Corbett family hit many obstacles along the way.

When Richard Cadell purchased the rights in 2008 he learned the surprising true story behind The Sooty Show and indeed embarked on his own rollercoaster ride to bring Sooty back to our television screens.

With very rare archive footage and some fascinating props this evening will celebrate the remarkable career of one of the most influential magicians of our time… Sooty!

Plus special surprise guests and a complimentary photo opportunity with Richard and Sooty.

Sooty & Friends

Sooty & Friends appearing at this event

What do you mean, he's just a puppet? Never has a small piece of yellow fur been imbued with so much rumbustious personality and the potential to create so much havoc! Sooty (with the help of his friends Soo & Sweep) holds the record for being the longest running kids' programme ever, first appearing on TV in 1952. 'Richard Cadell is a born entertainer' (The Guardian) 'A real treat for the children and a dose of nostalgia for the parents' (The Stage) 'Richard Cadell is as close to a Corbett as you will ever get - Sooty is on the right hands!' (Matthew Corbett).
