Sunday Morning Piano Series

Programme:
Mozart - Fantasie in D minor No. 1, K. 397
Fantasie in C minor No. 4, K. 475
Beethoven - Fantasie in G minor, Op. 77
Schumann - Fantasie in C minor, Op. 17

Winner of the 2010 BBC Young Musician prize, London-born Turkish pianist Lara Melda brings us a recital of Fantasies. The two from Mozart contrast changes of time and harmony, whilst Beethoven’s was described as a ‘flight of fancy’, with an expressive, improvisatory sound. Partly written for his wife Clara and partly a homage to Beethoven to raise funds for a statue to the composer in Bonn, Schumann’s passionate work is one of his greatest compositions.

Concert lasts an hour and ticket price includes tea, coffee and cake.
