A former BBC New Generation Artist, known for her maturity and sensitivity, Elisabeth Brauss presents four refined works, grown from simple elements. Mozart’s delightful variations on the ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, little star’ theme build a substantial work from the simplest melody. Mendelssohn’s Variations, one of the key works of the Romantic period, show restrained virtuosity, whilst Ravel’s Sonatine, which began life as a single movement, is a bright, clear and fluid creation. Chopin’s popular Scherzo No. 2 is big and brawny, filled with magical colours and overflowing with tenderness.
