This February we invite two of the UK’s most exciting crossover jazz-influenced bands to perform a re-work of Van Morrison’s 1968 magnum opus ‘Astral Weeks’.

Both Waldo’s Gift and Ishmael Ensemble have been breaking the boundaries of where jazz, classical and electronic instrumentation meet improvised music to outstanding effect.

Combining disparate influences from across jazz, folk and blue-eyed soul, the record was a slow burner and far from an immediate success. It baffled critics and fans alike but grew in stature over the decades to reach towering cult status.
