Belleruche's distinctive sound is a self-styled brand of handmade hip hop blues soul: think Sarah Vaughan, Django Reinhardt and Cut Chemist stuck in a lift with Russian beer and a sampler. The trio is made up of Kathrin deBoer (vocals), Ricky Fabulous (guitar) and DJ Modest (decks).
Rodney P cut his teeth as a member of the late-80s hip-hop act London Posse. He has been touring constantly since then, as well as being involved in making radio documentaries and recording collaborations with artists such as Bjork and Roots Manuva. His solo material blends reggae and hip-hop to create intelligent music people can party to.
Solo project by Masaaki Yoshida from Japan. He has become globally recognized for his unique live shows, which many people have described as “like watching a painter drawing on a white canvas”, as he creates electronic music completely live using a sampler and a keyboard, right in front of the audience. While he mainly performs solo, he frequently augments this setup with a string quartet, for a truly spellbinding show.
Riz MC (aka actor Riz Ahmed) makes sonically innovative and lyrically sharp music. He has topped underground music charts and held a residency at the Southbank Centre, been banned from as well as championed on national radio, supported Mos Def, Dizzee Rascal, and Massive Attack, and played prominent slots at Glastonbury, BBC Electric Proms, and US tours.
