A Live Rendition Of Sonny Rollings

An American Tenor sax player, Sonny Rollins’s 7-decade career is said to be one of the most influential and impressive throughout Jazz. Working in New York he combined with some of the greatest musicians of the 20th Century including that of the great Miles Davis.

His nickname and title of his seminal album, 'Saxophone Colossus' perfectly defines the mans influence and talent. The album was recorded in 1956 by producers Bob Weinstock and Rudy Van Gelder and released later that year by Prestige records. Although he may have not achieved his goal of 'changing the world' with his music, he certainly changed the face of Jazz.
