Literary Death Match

Literary Death Match returns to Southbank Centre for an April epic featuring an eclectic mix of literary and comedic stars to make the world feel glowy, warm and most radically – sane.

For their 2017 London debut, they're teaming with the brillianteurs behind The Good Immigrant for a immigrant-fueled night of words, whimsy and a bit of wildness

This year, they've been using LDM to feature the exact people that are getting kicked hardest in the face - immigrants, women, BAME, LGBTQ - and putting them in their shows. Because there's no better time to listen. That's why why they reached out to author Nikesh Shukla, one of their favorite people, and the mind behind The Good Immigrant anthology. Do you know it? Get to know it.

The show, now in 62 cities worldwide, brings together four brilliant authors to read their best writing for seven minutes or less, before a panel of three celebrity judges.

Two finalists are then chosen to compete in the Literary Death Match finale, a vaguely-literary game to decide the ultimate winner.

As Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) said: ‘When you can’t decide between American Pastoral and American Gladiators, between Henry James and Henry Rollins, and between a reading and a beating, Literary Death Match is a kickass All Of The Above.’
