Lead Belly Fest - A Tribute to Leadbelly
TakeHome Media is proud to present "Lead Belly Fest" on the 15th of June 2015 at the Royal Albert Hall.
Iconic folk-blues singer, songwriter and guitarist Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter, famed for his vast repertoire of songs and incredible influence, will be celebrated in a special night of music at the Royal Albert Hall.
Born in Mooringsport, Louisiana in the late 1880s, Lead Belly carved a fascinating career, recording over 500 songs before making his final performance at a concert at Carnegie Hall in 1949. He left a poweful legacy, with his work having being widely covered by the likes of The Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Nirvana.
Paying tribute at Lead Belly Fest will be the legendary Van Morrison, musical maestro Jools Holland, Animals frontman Eric Burdon, Manfred Mann singer Paul Jones, Rose Royce's Gwen Dickey and former Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show vocalist Dennis Locorriere.
The charities being supported by the gig are The Shooting Star Chase Children's Hospice Care, The Lead Belly Estate and The Lead Belly Foundation
