Messiah on Good Friday
The Royal Choral Society has performed Handel's Messiah on Good Friday afternoon at the Royal Albert Hall every year since 1878.
The 2015 performance is sure to be as stirring as the choir's performance 137 years ago when it established itself as one of the defining interpretations of Great Britain's favourite choral masterpiece. It is thought that the Royal Choral Society has sung the work more than any other choir – estimated as around 280 times. This is one of London's great Easter traditions and the perfect way to spend Good Friday afternoon.
The choir, conducted Richard Cooke, who this year marks twenty years as conductor of the Royal Choral Society, will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and joined by a quartet of superb soloists.
