Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts: Ed Sheeran
Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum selling, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will start the run of shows on Monday 24th March.
A two-time BRIT Award winner and recipient of an Ivor Novello Award, the 22-year old’s debut album ‘+’ is now certified six-time platinum in the UK. His Teenage Cancer Trust show preceeds a massive arena tour in October.
Ed Sheeran said: “When Noel asked me to play last year I couldn’t as I was touring Australia. I promised him and Roger that if they wanted me another time I’d be there, so here I am! I’m the same age as some of the people the charity helps and it’s a real honour to be asked. I hope we raise lots of money and awareness for Teenage Cancer Trust.”
This event takes place at Royal Albert Hall, which has achieved Silver Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.
The Brit award-winning singer/songwriter from Suffolk who found fame by fusing traditional acoustic and folk melodies with hip hop beats, Sheeran has created an inimitable sound and built a massive legion of fans through his constant live gigging.
Sheeran made chart history at the beginning of 2017 by being the only artist to debut two brand new singles in the top two positions, with 'Castle Of You' reaching no.2 and 'Shape Of You' reaching no.1 simultaneously, along with each individual track from his '÷' album entering the top 20 of the singles chart.
He also achieved the prestigious UK Christmas no.1 spot in 2017 with 'Perfect', while the '÷' album had notched up sales of over 2 million by the end of 2017 and became the fastest-selling album by a UK male artist of all time.
