Dreams of Freedom
The season’s over-arching theme of freedom and identity will continue through to the summer, with a truly amazing one-off event: Chickenshed is partnering with Amnesty International UK in a project entitled Dreams of Freedom, which will culminate in a mammoth production The Royal Albert Hall.
Chickenshed will bring together over 500 children – including members of Chickenshed’s own Children’s and Youth Theatre as well as children from across London – to stage a huge performance in this world famous venue.
This will be the culmination of more than a year and a half of creative work: by the day of the performance, an additional 300 children will have added to the creative process through a series of workshop, and the children performing will be joined on stage by Young Singers Choir, featuring over 100 voices.)
The piece is being created directly from children’s own ideas of what ‘Freedom’ means to them, and will serve as a fitting culmination to a season that aims to “shine a light rather than curse the darkness.”
