West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar built up a reputation through the underground scene as one of hip-hop's best lyricists. With the backing of Dr. Dre, Lamar has been compared to the likes of Tupac, Eminem, Nas, and Jay-Z. He is one of those rare MCs who has achieved critical and commercial success while earning the respect and support of those who inspired him.

Influenced by the likes of D'Angelo and Stevie Wonder along with Burial and Mount Kimbie, London-based producer, singer and songwriter James Blake first gave the world a taste of his quirky, R&B-sampling strain of dubstep in 2009 when his Air & Lack Thereof 12" appeared on the Hemlock label. He released his self-titled debut album in 2011 to critical praise, while the follow-up, 2013's Overgrown, won the prestigious Mercury Prize award. 2019 sees the release of his 4th album; Assume Form. He has also collaborated with artists including Mount Kimbie and Bon Iver, and has contributed production work to artists including Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Vince Staples, and Frank Ocean. Blake has also released remix work under the alias Harmonimix.

As the frontwoman and guitarist for Alabama Shakes, Howard has become one of music’s most celebrated figures. The band has won four Grammys (out of its nine nominations), and she has performed everywhere from the Obama White House to the main stage at Lollapalooza, where she sang with Paul McCartney at his invitation. But for her solo debut, Jaime, Howard boldly decided to explore new directions, with diverse instrumentation and arrangements and intimate, revelatory lyrics.
