Russell Howard hosts a night of spectacular stand-up to raise funds for Help Refugees.
One of the best known names in British comedy and presenter of his own smash-hit TV shows, Russell Howard is your MC for the latest instalment of Choose Laughs, in aid of Help Refugees.
Help Refugees is not simply another aid organisation. It's a group of everyday people, taking joint action to improve the lives of refugees throughout the world. In less than three years, it has become the biggest facilitator of grassroots aid in Europe, with more than 80 projects across the continent and the Middle East.
In 2017, Russell completed his globetrotting, record-breaking Round The World tour, which included 10 nights at the Royal Albert Hall and a further 36 cities worldwide. The acclaimed Netflix special Recalibrate followed, as did his own Sky One show, The Russell Howard Hour, which featured a diverse list of guests - including Sir Richard Branson, Stephen Merchant, Ed Sheeran and Diane Abbott. Catch Russell on-stage at Backyard before he embarks on his biggest stand-up tour ever, Recalibrate, as he tries out new material alongside his favourite comedians currently on the circuit.
"World domination is looming. he has grown darker, angrier and more satirical on stage. His sets deal with everything from foreign policy to his fear of death, and he rages as much as he teases." - The Sunday Times
Joining Russell is the hilarious Steve Hall (writer for The Russell Howard Hour and one third of Perrier-nominated sketch group, We Are Klang) and Kiri Pritchard-McLean (host of BBC Radio Four's Newsjack, co-host of the All Killa no Filla podcast and a quadruple Chortle Award winner). More acts are to be announced.

Russell Howard is one of our funniest and most successful comedians. The quick-witted, cheeky and wryly observant comedian first became known when he was appearing as a regular on BBC2's Mock The Week. He has had huge success in writing and starring in his own BBC show, Russell Howard's Good News. Russell Howard’s Good News is available around the world via a YouTube channel launched in 2014 – allowing fans to watch full episodes of the show (without piracy) in countries where the show wasn’t already broadcast – and has had over 11 million views and been watched in 180 countries (including North Korea and Vatican City). As part of his Round The World tour in 2017, Russell played 10 consecutive nights at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, overtaking the record of 8 in a row jointly held by Frank Sinatra in the 70s and Barry Manilow in the 90s. Before this, the record for the most consecutive performances by a comedian was 6 nights, shared by legends Victoria Wood and Billy Connolly. 'Energetic, uncynical and, most importantly, very funny' (The Times).

Probably best known as being a third of the We Are Klang sketch group with Greg Davies and Marek Larwood, Steve Hall is a superb stand-up in his own right and has provided support for Russell Howard on three of his sell-out national tours. Steve has been called a Steve Coogan 'lookalike and soundalike', which makes sense as they are distantly related through a convoluted web of Irish cousins. Hecklers tend to think Steve looks more like Mr Bean. Daily Telegraph Comedy Awards 2003 and BBC Comedy Awards 2003 runner-up. 'The most intelligent stand-up you've never heard of' (GQ) 'His phrasing is joyous and choice of words close to poetic' (Metro) 'Deadpan brilliance' (Time Out) 'Wonderfully misanthropic' (Sunday Times) ''Russell Howard's fine tour support' (The Times) 'A lovely, friendly, thoroughly entertaining show' (Chortle) 'This is stand-up as it should be: snappy and smart, occasionally nasty, and always funny' (The List).

With a charming stage manner coupled with a deft, quick wit it's easy to see why Nottingham Comedy Festival named Welsh comic Kiri Pritchard-McLean their Breakout Act Of The Year. 'She balances affection with an acute eye for the ridiculous to bring you a stand up set of well delivered, increasingly funny anecdotes... definitely one to watch' (Three Weeks) 'Kiri was by far the funniest and most quick witted, one to look out for in the future' (Leicester Mercury). Kiri Pritchard-McLean featured in Ents24's 20 Hardest Working Comedians of 2018 list.
