Fairport Convention

2017 sees Fairport Convention celebrating 50 years of music making and doing what they love best - treading the boards! Every year they undertake a nationwide U.K. tour which, in this very special year for the band, will see them playing material from across their 50 years.

Sally Barker (The Poozies / 2nd place in The Voice 2014) will be supporting Fairport and joining them for a number of songs too.

The band were credited with creating British Folk-Rock music with their iconic album ‘Liege and Lief’, which BBC Radio 2 listeners voted ‘The most influential Folk album of all time”. They have also received a Lifetime Achievement award from the BBC.

The band’s line up is founder member Simon Nicol on guitars and vocal, Dave Pegg who joined in 1969 on bass, mandolin and vocals, Ric Sanders on violin, multi instrumentalist Chris Leslie on vocals, violin, mandolin, bouzouki, whistles and harmonica and Gerry Conway on drums and percussion.

The band also organise their own festival 'Fairport’s Cropredy Convention' which takes place in August and attracts an audience of around 20,000 people from all over the world.
