The Woods
Hamish Napier, the Strathspey born composer and folk multi-instrumentalist behind acclaimed albums The River and The Railway, premieres his third The Woods.
Join him at the midpoint of his epic ten-year journey to create his Strathspey Pentology, five albums of original music inspired by his homeland, each representing the Classical elements water, fire, earth, wind and aether. The Woods is a beautiful folk tune cycle in praise of Cairngorms Connect, a partnership of neighbouring land managers, committed to a bold and ambitious 200-year vision to enhance habitats, species and ecological processes across a vast area within the Cairngorms National Park.
The Woods explores the inter-connected wildlife, folklore, legends and characters of our native wild forests. Joining him on stage are a stellar cast of folk musicians including Lauren MacColl (fiddle/viola), Innes Watson (guitar), James Lindsay (double bass), Fraser Stone (drums) and Angus Lyon (piano).
