From Bohemia’s woods and meadows: Dvo?ák’s Sixth Symphony is part homage to Brahms, part celebration of the sounds of rural Bohemia, and all Dvo?ák. Certainly, few romantic symphonies manage to be so sunny at the same time as being quite so powerful, and under Thomas Dausgaard, the BBC SSO’s new Chief Conductor, it’ll sound as fresh as new.
