Frankie & The Heartstrings

Frankie & The Heartstrings appearing at this event

North East indie five-piece, led by former Sunderland pub landlord Frankie Francis, who formed over a mutual love of the Housemartins and the Smiths. Think of these classic bands, combined with influences ranging from Orange Juice to Dexys Midnight Runners, Bobby Conn and Billy Childish, then add the Sunderland accents of the Futureheads or Maximo Park. Finally, complete with a hair quiff modelled on James Dean, some quivering hips and a gyrating bottom, and you've got The Heartstrings.

Tío Rico

Scott (bass / vocals) met Ed (guitar / lead vocals) when Ed was putting on gigs in Manchester in 2009 and they where both playing in bands ( Glue Ear / Big Ed & The Stink). Matt joined Tio Rico on drums in November 2015. Initially gravitating towards a sound that comprised of slow ska punk they recorded a self titled 5 track Demo with the help of Duncan Porter. Their EP Business and Pleasure was released in July 2017 and showed the band's progression away from ska to a heavier punky grungy sound.

Mouses appearing at this event

Mouses are guitarist and vocalist Steven Bardgett and drummer Nathan Duff; a lo-fi garage rock duo from Teeside in the North East of England, renowned for their raw and energetic live performances. With a sound reminiscent of bands such as Wavves and Times New Viking, their playful melodies have already garnered praise and comparison to the likes of Graham Coxon and Pavement. Citing the likes of early Weezer and the lo-fi fuzz of Ty Segall as influences, the duo's tracks are packed with surrealist lyrics that call to mind Stephen Malkmus at his very weirdest.
