Flow Festival is an alternative, multi-genre music festival in Helsinki. Taking place at the historic Suvilahti power plant, the festival features a uniquely stunning urban setting.

Presenting over 150 national and international artists every year, Flow Festival's eclectic lineup of influential artists is one of the best in Europe.

Not limited to music though, the festival curates an immersive experience with visual art installations, film screenings and talks to compliment its musical offerings.

Ms. Lauryn Hill, the American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, academician and actress established herself in the music world as the lone female member of The Fugees, whose record sales would make them the second biggest selling R'n'B act worldwide since Michael Jackson. Lauryn launched her solo career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill', which earned her a record breaking five Grammy Awards including 'Album of the Year' and 'Best New Artist'.

Bonobo, aka Brighton-based DJ and musician Simon Green, makes beautifully chilled beat-driven music drawing close comparison to the works of DJ Shadow and Mr Scruff. His combination of downtempo, hip hop, funk and dub with catchy melodies skilfully immersed in organic, pastoral atmospheres has seen him quickly grow in popularity since his debut album Animal Magic in 2001. 2017 saw the release of 6th album Migration, reaching no.5 on the UK album charts.

Electronic / hiphop artist, producer and multi instrumentalist. The name Mura Masa comes from infamous Japanese sword-smith Muramasa Sengo. Alex grew up on the island of Guernsey and spent a lot of his childhood jamming in local indie bands. For a while, he immersed himself in indie and rock music until, at the age of 15, he discovered electronic music via Hudson Mohawke's experimental track Thunder Bay. Soon after that, he stumbled across James Blake, which made him realise the endless possibilities in music production. More internet research ensued and he came across other musicians like SBTRKT, Cashmere Cat and Flying Lotus, who all helped to shape his idiosyncratic mix of sounds.

Kevin Morby

Kevin Morby appearing at this event

Kevin Morby is an American musician best known as a bassist of Woods, and a singer, songwriter and guitarist of The Babies. In 2013 he broke out of the shadows into a fruitful solo career, penning songs that melded Dylan-esque lyrical mystique with rootsy production. Along with contemporaries like Angel Olsen and Kurt Vile, Morby represented a wave of sharp, indie-bred 2010s songwriters whose audiences grew exponentially as they came into their own.

Young soulful singer/song writer, originally from Walsall, but now residing in London. Her influences range from Mos Def to Lauryn Hill and The Streets, while her soulful and jazzy vocal style has been compared to Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, Lauryn Hill and FKA Twigs. Jorja was working at Starbucks when she posted her first single, Blue Lights, onto SoundCloud in January 2016. It was a stirring listen, backed by her angelic, gripping vocals and a knack for poignant story telling. Within a week, it had racked up 100,000 plays, earning shout outs from Drake, Stormzy and Skrillex. She brewed her last coffee soon afterwards. Then in 2018, she won the Brit Critics' Choice Award.

Susanne Sundfør

Having provided vocals for many acclaimed artists, including Bjork, Royksopp and M83, Susanne has also released five albums in her home country, and seen two of them reach number one. Her back catalogue was released for the first time in the UK in 2013, receiving a positive critical response. Susanne Sundfør continues the expansion of her musical universe with her current album, The Silicone Veil (2012), the follow-up to her critically acclaimed, platinum-selling The Brothel (2010), which spent 30 weeks in the Norwegian album charts and sold more than 40 000 copies. Noname

Noname appearing at this event

A hip-hop producer and rapper from Chicago who does have a name (real name Fatimah Warner), but performs under the guise of Noname. She started out performing at open mic nights and poetry slams in her home town before breaking through wih a guest appearance on Chance The Rapper's 'Acid Rap' mixtape. Noname has a great complement in her main producer, the instrumentalist Phoelix, who supports her with docile loops of R&B and blues compositions.

Fore-fathers of the German synth rock sound and one of the most influential bands in the genre, the seven-times Grammy nominated pioneers of electronic music take their audience on a psychedelic journey through sight and sound. A legendary instrumental prog rock band characterised by the use of high-end modern technology next to a strong rock'n'roll identity and the pioneers of Krautrock, Tangerine Dream are hard to pigeonhole into any music category. Many have unsuccessfully tried to emulate their trademark sound, but no one could quite nail the secret ingredient of their unique recipe; the way musical layers are structured and finely glued together results in an indescribable musical experience which has always kept them one step ahead of any fashionable trend.

Egyptian Lover started out in the early Eighties as the DJ for Uncle Jams Army. They organised parties in the LA-area for 10.000 people. Artists involved were, amongst others, the then still unknown Run DMC, Whodini or Ice T. He quickly became the number one DJ on the west coast, due to his impressive mixing skills, which can be heard in every Egyptian Lover live show.
