**There will be a screening of Set Fire to the Stars taking place in Stereo before this show, the doors for the screening are at 6PM. The screening is separately ticketed from the gig.

Gruff Rhys plays a short tour performing his recently released soundtrack to the Dylan Thomas film Set Fire To The Stars. For the shows, he will be joined by Y Niwl members, Alun Tan Lan, Gruff Ab Arwel and Siôn Glyn. Topeka, Kansas born drummer Kliph Scurlock and walking brass section Gavin Fitzjohn will also join in the celestial cacophony. During the performances, ace film director Dylan Goch (who cut his teeth mixing VHS tapes at 1990's raves) will re-imagine and remix the said monochrome movie as they play. DJs from the mighty Finders Keepers will be on hand to help create a most memorable musical happening.

The tour takes in multimedia venues across the country - Cardiff's New Theatre is seldom available for live concerts so it's an extra boon to be permitted to stage an event at this legendary venue. Each show comes preceded by a free early evening screening of the film Set Fire To The Stars (starring Elijah Wood & Celyn Jones). Pitched as a Jazz age Withnail And I, the Andy Goddard directed film concerns Dylan Thomas's first week in the US in 1950 and the struggle that his agent John Malcolm Brinnin has in keeping him on the straight and narrow
