Rumpus Vol 25: Wenches & Wrenches

London’s most over the top, carnivalistic indoor festival is going monthly. The adventure continues on May 8th when the notorious Rumpus crew invites hot rods & drag racing queens, bustlers, hustlers, mechanical maidens and malleable mechanics to get their hands dirty under the theme “Wenches and Wrenches”. There’s no enforced dress code but Rumpus’s outrageously creative community of “Creatures” sure love a fabulous outfit: expect tails and ears aplenty wiggling on the dance floor!
With over 75 performers, musicians, DJs and interactive artists on the bill, RUMPUS has got to be the best value night out around, providing more than enough madness, magic and mayhem to blow the cynicism clean off even the most jaded reveler. And it’s the only place where you’ll find Delta blues, Turkish funk, Roma reggae, drum & bass and electro-ska under one massive, joyous, sweaty roof.
Be warned though: Rumpus ain’t no lean-back experience. Expect to find yourself drawn into all sorts of interactive shenanigans across seven animalistic, polychromatic rooms, whether it’s the giant ball pit, an art exhibition featuring dueling live artists, or the Cinerave – a VJ installation that turns into a full-on rave.
Throw in bass-pumping festival stars Slamboree, lightbulb-eaters, angle-grinders, a naked DJ, market stalls, wandering characters, samba drummers and the infamous Kazoo Orchestra…no wonder Rumpus fans say this is “the way parties should be”!
