One of China’s leading composers, Qigang Chen divides his life between Beijing and France where he studied as a post graduate student with Oliver Messiaen. Combining Chinese folk and Western classical traditions is characterised by exquisite textures and sequences of dreamlike atmospheres, interspersed with striking dramatic gestures.
