Bristol Comedy Garden 2014: Ardal O'Hanlon, Stewart Francis, Nina Conti, Craig Campbell
Best known for his role as Father Dougal Mcguire in the legendary and much loved 'Father Ted', Ardal O'Hanlon head's to Bristol Comedy Garden. Lurking beneath Ardal's mild-mannered demeanor resides a sharp, probing (and fairly mild-mannered) comic brain. Sometimes thoughtful, sometimes silly but always punchy, he has tickled audiences the world over.
'Watch him turn innocence into a deadly comic weapon' - Sunday Times
Joining Ardal is a sublime supporting cast with Live At The Apollo star and one-liner maestro Stewart Francis, the incredibly funny, British Comedy Award winning ventriloquist Nina Conti and yarn-spinning Canadian Craig Campbell as host.
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Although best known for his starring roles in the sitcoms, Father Ted (for which he won a British Comedy Award and a BAFTA nomination) and My Hero, Ardal's other TV comedy dramas include Big Bad World, Blessed, Skins and Dr Who. He has appeared on his own Dave's One Night Stand and more recently on Live At The Apollo and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow. Ardal has even found the time to write a book, his best-selling novel Talk Of The Town features in the book '1001 Books to Read Before You Die'.
However, it is as a stand-up comedian where Ardal's true vocation lies. He sees his role in life as 'highlighting the ridiculous'. Avoiding the overly crass and the obvious, his only interest is the truth - if there is such a thing...
'Displays a proficiency of delivery which puts him well ahead of the pack. He is a complete joy to watch, planting the sort of silly images that bump around in your head forever' (The Guardian)
'... skilfully handled running jokes, his manipulation of a capacity crowd is just as impressive... sharp and genial observation. O’Hanlon is certainly a comedian to be reckoned with' (The Daily Telegraph)
'If you love comedy and smart talking – and only go to see one comedy show, make it O'Hanlon' (Daily Express).

'With Francis it's all about puns... He'll fill every minute with comedy bargains in the form of non-stop quick-fire gags, rarely giving you time to cease giggling until the next one starts... Quite simply, the service Francis provides is good old-fashioned joke telling with a hook, punch-line and a dose of panache thrown in for good measure' (Warwick Arts Centre)
'A brilliant comic brain... this stand-up cracks some of the best one liners I've ever heard' (The Guardian).
'Perfectly crafted gags' (The Sunday Times).
Stewart Francis was named in Ents24's top 5 hardest-working comedians of 2015.

2013 BAFTA-nominated filmmaker and British Comedy Award winner Nina Conti
performs with a puppet monkey. The monkey is rude and a bit angry. Nina is all sweet and innocent. It is a brilliant double act for the 21st century.
Ground-breaking ventriloquist Nina is a star of BBC's Live at the Apollo, QI and HBO's Family Tree.
'Put simply, Nina Conti is a genius' (The Daily Mirror)
'A gem... funny, poignant, novel’ (The Guardian)
'I laughed until I couldn't breathe' (Melbourne Age)
'Uproariously hilarious' (The Scotsman).

Described by some as the Canadian Billy Connolly, Craig never fails to entertain. The wild man of Canadian comedy delivering in style and occasionally making up one third of The Dinks. His unique humour fuses together whimsical anecdotes with salty stories of sex, drugs and circumcision.
However, be warned, his laid-back manner and genuine warmth belie the true outrageous nature of his material. Still, his stoner philosophy and risque subjects have won him devoted fans worldwide.
He has supported Frankie Boyle and performed on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy
Roadshow (BBC One), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), and was responsible for
easing the contractions of an expectant mother who laughed so hard at his performance on
Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave) - which detailed an encounter with a badger...her waters broke.
'Bringing a tale to life like a young Billy Connolly' (Edinburgh Evening News)
'One of the most skilled storytellers and jokesmiths on the circuit... Craig is simply a very, very funny man' (Chortle).
