The Comedy Box: David Whitney, Allyson June Smith, Mark Smith, John Robins
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Winner of the 2007 Hackney Empire new act of the year and BAFTA winner for Fonejacker. David Whitney's material is a fine blend of political satire and pure filth, making him the thinking person's comic. So long as that person is thinking of something satirically filthy at the time. His posh-accented delivery comes dunked in a tongue-in-cheek laddishness.
'... you can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him' (Reg D Hunter)
'His trajectory is perfect. He squeezes the laughter out of audiences. He is the squeeze person' (Eddie Izzard)
'David Whitney, a stand-up comedian with sharp cavalier observations, his CV reads: actor involved in the BAFTA wining comedy Fonejaker and bagpipe player, who has piped at many events including the Royal Tournament and Gwen Stefani’s wedding, a very witty man of many talents' (Funhouse Comedy).

Since 2000, Allyson June Smith has been tickling Canada’s comedy scene from the moment she put down the chalk brush and picked up a mic. Playing to packed rooms has become like another day in the classroom for this former school teacher.
A multiple Canadian Comedy Award nominee for Best Female Stand-Up. Allyson's credits include her own hour long Comedy Now special, appearances on CBC Radio’s hit show The Debaters, and the Winnipeg, Halifax and Just For Laughs Festivals, to name just a few.
After working her way across Canada, Allyson is now taking the UK by storm with her sassy blend of in-your-face stand-up and hilariously insightful comedy.
