Brass Band Gala Concert: The Black Dyke Band + The Cory Band + Fodens Band

The Black Dyke Brass Band are the most recorded band in the world, with over 300 recordings and growing every year. It is also the most successful contesting band in the world having won the European Championships eleven times, most recently in 2005, the British Open no fewer than 29 times (most recently 2006) and the National Championships of Great Britain 22 times (most recently 2008 and 2009).
Black Dyke was also the first band to achieve the 'Grand Slam' in 1985 by winning the Yorkshire regional, European, British Open and National Championship contests,along with being voted BBC's Best Band of the Year.
The band have also released a single on The Beatles' Apple Records label, an instrumental composed by Lennon and McCartney called Thingumybob, as well as an instrumental version of Yellow Submarine.
The Black Dyke Band tour dates
From the Rhondda Valley in South Wales, The Cory Band were European Brass Band Champions in 2008, then successfully defended their title to become Champions again in 2009, adding to their success by also winning the 2009 British Open Championship at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.
They have a rich history dating back to 1884 when it was first formed as Ton Temperance and continues to be a highly successful band performing at many of the worlds finest venues.
The band's numerous CD recordings and live concert performances have
received worldwide acclaim.
The Cory Band tour dates
Winners of the 2002 All England Masters Championship, and North West Area Champions for four times in five years, and thirty seven times a prize winner at the National Championships of Great Britain, the Fodens have maintained their position as one of the worlds leading brass bands with a traditional and unique style. The repertoire includes the full spectrum from light popular music both old and new through operatic, film and light orchestral works to the serious original brass band music performed by outstanding soloists and supported by an enviable collection of fine musicians.
