Mahlers Ninth
Sir Simon Rattle brings his new orchestra home to Symphony Hall, in Mahler’s Ninth Symphony.
If there’s one artist who needs no introduction at Symphony Hall, it’s Sir Simon Rattle. This is his first visit to Birmingham since he became music director of the London Symphony Orchestra, and naturally, they’re playing Mahler.
In other words, this concert is self-recommending. In the 1990s, Rattle, Mahler and Symphony Hall were practically synonymous. But he’s a conductor who always has something new to share with us. And since no London venue compares to Symphony Hall, this will be a rare chance for UK audiences to hear this new partnership in a truly world-class acoustic.
Please note there will be no interval.
