Never miss another 'City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO)' show
Rachmaninov's Second: City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), Dejan Lazic, Kazuki Yamada
Think Russian and you think epic. Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony is exactly that – vast, passionate, and overflowing with some of the most romantic melodies Rachmaninov ever wrote. Guest conductor Kazuki Yamada adores Russian music, and he begins with a real little firecracker of an overture. Alongside all that drama, pianist Dejan Lazi?’s performance of Beethoven’s joyous Second Concerto will sparkle like a newly-cut diamond.
CBSO+ 31 January, 1pm: CBSO violinist David Gregory and two other CBSO musicians (horn & double bass) delve into Rachmaninov’s romantic Second Symphony.
Founded in 1920, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra has always had an illustrious career. In fact, the first concert was conducted by Sir Edward Elgar. The orchestra has grown into a 90-piece ensemble with a worldwide reputation.
