TechZone Club: Characters

Every month the TechZone workshops will be a different theme, each involving varying levels of construction and programming, all tailored to suit your child's abilities. So come on, get creative!

TechZone is open to school children aged between 5 and 15 and the trained presenters will be able to introduce suitable material for all ability levels.

Parents/Guardians, if they wish, can stay in the session (£4 charge) or alternatively drop their children off for the day and TechZone will look after them, all they ask is that you register your contact number on arrival.

This month's session will be focusing on 'Scratch' and 'Python' computer coding.

Scratch is an open source computer coding language that is often used to develop computer games whilst Python is an open source programming language that allows the programmer to give the source code to the computer and the computer runs the code right away. Python is a good programming language for beginners and for making programs rapidly.

There will be three sessions during the day which everyone will take part in with 'ability appropriate' alternatives available. There will be a session on Scratch, a session on Python and a session using the Lego 'WeDo' kits to come up with a story using the Lego.

TechZone sessions are aimed at all school age children and whilst the sessions are great for younger children, there are plenty of challenging activities for older ones and our trained presenters will be on hand to tailor the sessions to suit all abilities.
