Teechers By John Godber
School dramas unfold through the unique eyes of Salty, Gail and Hobby, three Year 11 students about to leave school for good, in this production of John Godber’s classic comedy.
Blackeyed Theatre has revived their highly-acclaimed 2013 production of this play about life at a modern comprehensive for Mr Nixon, an unsuspecting new drama teacher. Fast-moving, inventive and highly entertaining, Teechers brings to life an array of terrifying teachers and hopeless pupils through the eyes of the Year 11s.
Salty, Hobby and Gail perform to the audience an account of their time in High School, specifically their time with Mr Nixon. His arrival ignites their passion for the stage with his idealism and belief that all children should be treated equally.
Combining high energy, break-neck comedy and breath-taking ensemble performances, Teechers is modern classic with something vital to say about education for the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.
'Hilarious' (The Stage)
'Bags of energy, ingenuity and impressive physicality' (The Good Review)
'A top of the class production' (British Theatre Guide).
