4000 Years Of Keeping Secrets
For at least 4000 years, codes have been used to provide secrecy for important messages. In this entertaining survey, Dr Baldwin traces the development of codes and ciphers through the ages, picking out some key developments, and explaining how no new technique that the code-makers invented could defeat the code-breakers for long.
The story is taken as far as the Second World War, ending with the world's most famous cipher machine: Enigma. This show can be enjoyed by everyone - no knowledge of maths or computing is required - and you'll even learn how to break simple codes!
