Double Feature And A Cartoon

'Oscar Deutsch Entertains the Nation', was a saying that rang out across the UK during the 1930’s with the explosive growth of Oscar Deutsch’s new chain of Odeon cinemas. A luxurious art-deco Odeon picture house opened in Skinner Street in September 1937, just as Wolverhampton’s entertainment scene was expanding.

Cinema audiences were transfixed by the glamorous world of films and the young girls working as Usherettes began to live the Hollywood dream certain their lives would be transformed forever by this new modern sophisticated decade.

This exciting new drama is partly based on historical research about the Wolverhampton’s Odeon and weaves both factual and fictional characters to tell a story of ambition, aspiration and love.
