Unrestrained by genre, Loka are as likely to find inspiration in the music of Brian Wilson and Ennio Morricone as they are a CD of ship horn alert calls, inhabiting the outer fringes of electronic music, white noise, and a crackling jazz 78.

Loka released their first EP Beginningless in 2003 and their first album Fire Shepherds followed in 2006 both released through Ninja Tune. Second album Passing Place, also on Ninja Tune, was released in 2011 and was complimented by the renowned Beaumaris Seindorf Brass Band.

The band has since recorded a radio session for Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio 1 show, as well as a tour of Canada - playing at the prestigious Guelph Jazz Festival - and Europe.

Loka's third album Northern Oscillations was released in October 2017 and features the singles Herculaneum Rock and Everything Exploded. The album takes its influences from a range of diverse topics encompassing the positivity of family, friends, hope and love juxtaposed with the negativity of right wing politics, Brexit, bigotry, war and relationship breakdowns.
