One Man, Two Guvnors
Based on the classic Italian comedy The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni, this critically acclaimed English version by prize winning playwright Richard Bean was first performed at the National Theatre in 2011. Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End gangster, now living in Brighton.
Holed up at The Cricketers Arms, the permanently ravenous Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with Stanley Stubbers, an upper class criminal who is in hiding from the police. All he needs to do is keep his two guvnors apart. Simple.
