A History Of Architecture In 100 Buildings
Renowned BBC television presenter Dan Cruickshank tells the history of architecture through the stories of 100 iconic buildings.
From the ancient Egyptian pyramids to the soaring skyscrapers of Manhattan, he explores the world’s best-known buildings that represent key moments in architectural history. In doing so he shows buildings such as the Pantheon in Rome, Hagia Sophia in Turkey, the Taj Mahal in India and the Forbidden City in China.
He also covers less obvious and more surprising structures such as The Oriel Chambers in Liverpool and the Narkomfin Apartment Building in Moscow. Many of the buildings are in locations that are now inaccessible and under serious threat.
Dan Cruickshank also wrote and presented: ‘Dan Cruickshank & the Family That Built Gothic Britain’, ‘The Bridges That Built London’ and ‘Around the World in 80 Treasures’.
