Sunday In The Bailiff Bar With Da Capo Duo & Phil Rowland

A Sunday double bill to help you get ready for the seasons festivities!Wigan based singer songwriter Phil Rowland starts us off as he performs an arsenal of classic and contemporary acoustic covers. Be it melancholy 60s ballads, 70s rock singalongs or 90s indie anthems. His diverse mix will suit any mood from the start of the night ‘til last orders.
Followed by Da Capo is a Paris-based duo comprised of Venezuelan-born guitarist (also on harmonica/percussion), Bernardo and English singer (also on flute), Rachael.

Their musical style originates from the Parisian cafés and bistros of yesteryear, filled with vintage toe-tapping, swingable, hummable melodies.They like to add a soupçon of their very own ‘je-ne-sais-quoi’ to classic French songs, trad jazz, gypsy jazz, cabaret, swing and Latin numbers from the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s.
Their playlist features songs from artists such as Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet, Josephine Baker, Django Reinhardt, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Consuelo Velasquez and many others.

Amongst all the old-time classics, Da Capo likes to sneak in more modern numbers but in their unique retro style, for example The Doors, Carlos Santana, The Clash, Blondie, Eurythmics, even Britney Spears and The White Stripes!During their six years together, they have performed not only all over France but also in Belgium, the UK, Spain and Germany.
