Canterbury Tales
Theatrecraft return to the Playhouse with a performance authored by Geoffrey Chaucer, Michael Bogdanov and Phil Woods.
Bawdy, anarchic and lots of fun, this modern version of Chaucer's medieval classic takes the form of a storytelling competition. Set in the present, with each tale as a stand-alone piece, linked by a Master of Ceremonies, the approach is deliberately un-academic and the aim, to entertain, with all the spirit of the original's sense of chivalry and satire.
There are nine of Chaucer's favourite tales told here, including those of The Knight, The Wife of Bath and The Miller. And, as a finale, the audience is invited to vote on whose tale wins the competition.
