WhitLit: Making Trouble; Feminism Now and Then
Feminism’s back in fashion and WhitLit welcomes a panel of women to discuss what feminism means to them today. Hosted by former editor of ‘Spare Rib’ magazine, Sue O’ Sullivan with the renowned Dr Lynne Segal (‘Making Trouble’), blogger Francesca Richards-Spiller (feministmum.co.uk) and magazine editor Greta Gillam from the Simon Langton Girls School Feminist Society.
Lynne Segal is Anniversary Professor of Psychology and Gender Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. Migrating from Australia to Britain in 1970, just when the women’s liberation movement kicked off, she made her name as a feminist activist, writer and scholar. Her latest book, Out of Time, explores the pleasures and perils of growing old.
Sue O’Sullivan was a member of the London Women’s Liberation Workshop, ‘Spare Rib’ magazine collective, Feminist Review Collective amongst others. She is an editor and HIV/AIDS campaigner and educator.
