WhitLit: No More Heroes? Writing Music Biographies in the 21st Century
What are the challenges when it comes to writing truthfully about rock musicians who may – or may not – wish to be written about? WhitLit welcomes Peter Doggett, author of ‘You Never Give Me Your Money: The Battle for the Soul of the Beatles’ and ‘The Man Who Sold The World: David Bowie and the 1970s’, and Clinton Heylin, author of ‘Bob Dylan: Behind The Shades’ and ‘Can You Feel the Silence? Van Morrison’ to discuss their work and to consider the question: what biographies are there left to write? Clinton and Peter are both international authorities on the history of rock music and this promises to be a highly entertaining and opinionated session.
The event will be Chaired by local author Andy Miller who has himself written a book about Ray Davies and The Kinks (‘The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society’).
