At the Villa Mauresque
Following the sell-out success of last year’s one man play ‘Mr Maugham at Home’, actor Anthony Smee returns to WhitLit to reprise his acclaimed role as Maugham in this rehearsed reading of Anthony Curtis’s final full length play, which has never been performed. Set at Maugham’s French Riviera villa ‘Mauresque’ the play deals with events around the abdication when the King and Mrs Simpson were his guests. Sadly, Anthony Curtis passed away shortly after WhitLit 2014, and as a tribute to him, the festival is honoured to present this exclusive first time reading.
The play will be rehearsed and read by a full professional cast of seven actors, produced by Tony Smee and Ninon Jerome and directed by Jerome, Head of Artistic Programming of the Ashcroft Theatre and Fairfield Halls in Croydon.
