Save The Civic Good Friday All Dayer: Chris Helme Band + Jon Windle + Chris Helme + Tom Hingley + See Emily Play + Mazzoni
"The Civic might be closing down, which would leave no big music venue in the town.
One of the reason's for its closure is that, despite an increase in users and income over the last few years, the Civic Hall is still not profitable and the council cannot subsidise the shortfall anymore due to government cuts.
A show of support and a push to make it more profitable might just give it a fighting chance of staying open!
There will be three rooms of music, so come down and save the Civic!"

Jon Windle, front man and song-smith of Little Man Tate, had ideas that went against the grain of sitting back and revelling in past glories. Something had to be done to prove that a fledgling career of Top 40 hits and countless world tours didn't end with that infamous farewell gig in Sheffield in October 2009.
Stubborn determination and an ear for a massive chorus or two was the starting point for an internal rallying call that paved the way for future writing sessions within the bunker of his own living room. A solo project was now something Jon had needed to wet his lyrical appetite and a trip back on the road with a forthcoming (yet unnamed) new album due to be released in Late 2010.

Chris Helme, who first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire's post-Stone Roses band 'The Seahorses' released his brand new solo album on the 27th of August 2012. Still rightfully remembered for the anthemic Britpop classics 'Love Is The Law' and 'Blinded By The Sun' - songs that evoked everything the 90's stood for, the excitement, the culture and the bands that provided a voice in a period of political and social imbalance. Present day societal context may well in fact mirror those times but the man himself, now, appears cut from an entirely different cloth.
Helmes has an enviable back catalogue, bolstered further by his acclaimed works with The Yards, but it's his latest offering The Rookery's knack for melody and imaginative, intricate, three-way guitar interplay that brings each track to such lush, blossoming, climaxes. Add to this Helme's keen ear for arranging and those brooding string passages resonate even more deeply.

He moved to the North West in the mid-eighties from his Oxford home and in 1989 he became the vocalist for Inspiral Carpets. The band went on to have eleven top forty singles between 1990 and their initial split in 1995.
Tom's charm and charisma remain, and his extraordinary vocal range is as accurate and powerful as ever, incorporating soul, r'n'b and jazz.

Emily Ireland’s musical career began at just thirteen years old. Focused on music from this early age, her style draws influence from many different sources ranging from artistes as various as Nina Simone and Pink Floyd to Lady Gaga and Ben Folds.
Incorporating a love of poetry and prose, with integrity and audible anger in both her lyrics and vocalisation, she is an intriguing addition to the thriving Sheffield Music scene.
Under the moniker of See Emily Play, she has received plaudits in both local and international press since releasing her first E.P, Four Feet from the Door, in 2011.
