The Mikado

The idea behind this new production of the Mikado, is to move away from the 'Traditional' production of kimonos and swimming caps representing Japenese Bald heads. The inspiration is taken from Jonathan Miller's 1920's production but with a completely different setting. Act 1 being KoKo's Tea Tent during Ladies Day at The Royal Titi-pu Races, and act two on the river during the Titi-pu Regatta.

In doing this, they are keeping with Gilbert's original intention of sending up the social class system. Playing at breakneck speed with a strong 'Carry On/Whitehall Farce' influence, this production will be joyous, happy, bright, colourful and as gloriously camp as possible!
