Tonight’s programme includes two of the great “middle period” works - the remarkable sonata op.31 no.2 with its strange “voice from the tomb” episodes and the explosive Appassionata Sonata op.57 which changed the trajectory of piano music for ever.
This is the second concert in Jonathan Biss’ complete Beethoven Sonata cycle, in association with the Wigmore Hall, to celebrate the forthcoming 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. Free for 25s and under
